Chapter 2: The Planning

The 4 were waiting anxiously for the ‘end of school’ bell to ring (especially Deborah). None of them absorbed what their teacher’s were teaching them. Finally, the bell rang. The 3 met at the canteen, waiting for Nadera to turn up so they could discuss about the problem. “Hey! I’m here!” said Nadera, walking over to them. “Lets start talking about the kidnapping okay??” said Nisa, sitting down together with the others and looked towards Deborah. Deborah was staring up, into space. She was very upset. She could not accept that Firdaus has been kidnapped. Who would kidnap him and why? These were the questions that played on her already confused mind.

“Deborah, are you okay?” Nisa asked gently. “Ya…hey! Are you guys going to help me rescue him?” Deborah whispered. “Why don’t we just report the matter to the police?” Nisa asked. “No!” the 3 protested. “No way! Do not include the police in this!!” cried Deborah. “We must not report this matter to them. They will make it to a even bigger issue. It might appear in the newspapers…” Nadera said logically. “Okay, I’m sorry for suggesting such a foolish idea” Nisa apologized, trying to comfort Deborah, patting her shoulder. “But it’s school time, no holidays, only weekends. How and when are we going to save him?” Zahira asked. “Let’s go this Saturday and come back on Sunday night!” Deborah replied eagerly. She was already missing her boyfriend. She really couldn’t wait to save him.

“Don’t get too eager! It’s impossible! It takes almost one day to get there and it would take a few hours to find him. By the time we arrive back, it would be Monday night! How are we suppose to find him in one day? What excuse are we going to give our teachers in school?” Nisa replied, almost shouting. “You don’t have to shout!! I’m already tensed at what has happened. What you are saying has a point. But we really, really must save him!!” Deborah sobered. They stopped talking about it and started to make their way out of the school gate. The other 3 were thinking of what excuse to use while Deborah was thinking of Firdaus. Poor Deborah! Suddenly, Zahira, the quiet one, got an idea. “Why don’t we go to the cave on Saturday and search for the place where Firdaus is and give him some food and then on Sunday, we can save him easily as we already know where he is. So we do not need to sleepover there and we can return by Sunday night” Zahira suggested. Wow! Zahira suddenly became a bright girl. “Good idea!” Deborah replied with great enthusiasm. “So, shall we agree to the idea?” Deborah asked.
